Mixing Maintenance Planner

The Mixing Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the Mixing Department. This position works closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, Production, Engineering, EHS, and other departments to ensure maintenance work is properly planned, parts and materials are available, and equipment downtime is minimized.
The Mixing Maintenance Planner supports equipment reliability by maintaining accurate work orders, equipment history, preventive maintenance schedules, parts requirements, and maintenance documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This position plays a key role in improving maintenance efficiency, PM effectiveness, equipment reliability, and overall Mixing Department performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Plan and schedule preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance activities for Mixing equipment and supporting systems.
- Work closely with Mixing Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians to prioritize maintenance work based on equipment condition, production requirements, safety, and operational needs.
- Create, review, and maintain detailed work orders, including job scope, labor requirements, estimated completion time, required parts, tools, materials, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with Mixing Production to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and continuously evaluate PM effectiveness to improve equipment reliability.
- Review equipment failures, recurring maintenance issues, and work-order history to identify opportunities for reliability improvement.
- Ensure required replacement parts, materials, tools, and resources are identified and available before scheduled maintenance work begins.
- Coordinate with the Parts/Inventory team to maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical Mixing equipment spare parts.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, work-order history, PM information, and maintenance documentation within the CMMS.
- Track planned versus actual labor hours and work-order completion times to improve future maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Coordinate and lead weekly maintenance planning and scheduling meetings as required.
- Provide maintenance planning information and data for departmental KPIs, reports, and performance metrics.
- Review open work orders and follow up with Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians to ensure work is completed and properly documented.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, work orders, SOPs, and technical documentation.
- Assist with planning equipment shutdowns, startups, installations, modifications, and major repair activities within the Mixing Department.
- Coordinate with EHS to ensure required safety procedures, permits, lockout/tagout requirements, and other safety controls are identified during the planning process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve maintenance efficiency.
- Maintain maintenance procedures, equipment documentation, and records in accordance with company and Quality Management System requirements.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to recurring equipment failures and maintenance issues.
- Communicate maintenance schedules, equipment status, parts availability, and potential delays to appropriate departments and stakeholders.
- Perform other duties of equal or lesser complexity as assigned by management.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree, technical school certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, or a multi-trade manufacturing maintenance environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a tire, rubber, automotive, or other industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience supporting Mixing equipment or similar heavy industrial manufacturing equipment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, maintenance scheduling, and equipment reliability principles.
- Ability to plan and estimate maintenance jobs, including labor, materials, parts, tools, and completion times.
- Experience working with CMMS systems for work orders, equipment history, preventive maintenance, parts, and inventory management.
- ERP system experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple maintenance activities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, EHS, Quality, and other departments.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), preferred.
- Ability to analyze maintenance data, equipment history, downtime, and PM performance to identify improvement opportunities.
