Inventory/Material Manager in Ridgewood, New Jersey at Scale Microgrid Solutions

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Inventory Manager to own Scale's inventory management program across our nationwide portfolio of operating energy assets. This individual will establish and maintain accurate, centralized visibility into spare parts and replacement equipment across project sites, warehouses, and third-party storage locations, and will develop the systems, processes, controls, and replenishment strategies required to ensure critical materials are available when needed. This is a key operational role supporting the reliability and performance of Scale's growing fleet.

This role will report to our Senior Director of Procurement. The role is based at our Headquarters in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Key responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities:

• Own inventory management across Scale's nationwide portfolio of operating assets, project sites, warehouses, and third-party storage locations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a centralized inventory database and tracking system that provides accurate visibility into inventory quantity, location, status, ownership, availability, and movement.
• Establish and maintain inventory control standards, including item master structure, stocking policies, minimum/maximum levels, reorder points, safety stock, and critical-spares requirements.
• Partner with Operations & Maintenance and technical teams to forecast spare-part and replacement-equipment requirements based on the installed equipment base, preventative maintenance schedules, failure history, equipment criticality, and vendor lead times.
• Manage replenishment and purchasing of spare parts and replacement equipment, including urgent and emergency requirements, to minimize asset downtime.
• Maintain traceability of serialized and high-value equipment and manage inventory transfers between project sites, warehouses, and other storage locations.
• Establish cycle-counting and physical-inventory procedures; investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
• Monitor obsolete, excess, slow-moving, and unavailable inventory and recommend disposition, redeployment, or sourcing actions.
• Manage day-to-day inventory relationships and processes with equipment manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, and third-party logistics providers.
• Develop and maintain inventory KPIs and reporting, including inventory accuracy, stockouts, critical-spares coverage, replenishment lead time, excess inventory, emergency purchases, and inventory value.
• Lead continuous improvement of Scale's inventory management systems and processes, including integration with ERP, asset-management, purchasing, and service workflows.
• Coordinate across Procurement, Operations & Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and project teams to ensure inventory supports reliable operation of Scale's assets.

The Ideal Candidate

• 5-8+ years of progressively responsible inventory, materials management, spare-parts, or related experience, preferably supporting distributed field operations or multiple locations.
• Demonstrated experience owning inventory controls and processes, including item masters/SKUs, stocking policies, min/max levels, reorder points, safety stock, cycle counts, and physical inventory reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience implementing, improving, or administering inventory management, ERP, CMMS, or asset-management system; strong ability to translate operational requirements into a scalable system and database structure.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience developing inventory KPIs and management reporting.
• Experience managing inventory across multiple warehouses, project sites, service locations, and/or third-party logistics providers.
• Experience with serialized equipment, high-value components, spare-parts planning, replenishment, and emergency replacement requirements.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment and parts; experience in power generation, renewable energy, utilities, industrial service, field service, or a similar asset-intensive environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with equipment manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, subcontractors, and service technicians.
• Excellent organization, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• A process-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to build structure, improve data quality, establish controls, and drive accountability across an organization.
