Sr Field Services Structural Steel Technician in Toledo, Ohio at Bowser-Morner Inc

Position Overview

The Structural Steel Construction Services Field Technician perform bolted and welded structural connection reviews on building construction sites, fabrication shop inspections, and additional specialty review and non-destructive testing. Field witnessing, sample collection and lab testing as needed, including testing of welder performance and procedure qualifications, high strength bolts and anchor roads, load testing of assemblies, etc. They will also performs routine and non-routine testing and observation of construction materials and practices, as needed. Work may include the testing and examination of soil, asphalt, concrete, masonry, structural steel and other construction materials. Work may also include the field observation of soil placement and compaction, concrete structural dimensions and rebar placement, asphalt placement, and other construction practices. The Structural Steel Construction Services Field Technician receives supervision and technical support from the Field Supervisor and the Assistant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ability to track and organize assigned work,

· Ability to perform routine sampling, testing, and observation,

· Be familiar with good field services practices and definition of Quality,

· Apply formulas for the interpretation and calculation of test results,

· Be proficient at basic computer skills and preparation of field service reports,

· Implement relevant quality control requirements including equipment calibration,

· Interpret project specifications, drawings, and work instructions,

· Handle of customer relations,

· Be able to mentor junior technicians

· Other duties as directed by the Field Supervisor and Assistant Manager.

Education and Experience

· High School diploma or GED

· Current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspection (CWI) certification.

· ACI, NETTCP, NICET or ODOT certifications are desired

· Experience with weld examination, OSHA/MSHA training, density gauge training, floor fatness testing, soil stabilization, asphalt field and lab testing, deep foundations, asphalt and concrete coring, rammed aggregate piers, are also desired.

· Ability to monitor sounds for changes in machine function

Work Conditions

· Work exposes the employee to traffic hazards and the hazards of construction sites including dangers of moving heavy equipment, inclement weather conditions, and high noise levels.
