Sr. Technical Editor

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Technical Editor based in Canada.

As a Senior Technical Editor, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and editorial excellence of high-impact cybersecurity intelligence publications. You will collaborate with analysts, writers, engineers, and editorial professionals to transform complex technical information into polished, reliable, and publication-ready content. Working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, you will uphold rigorous editorial standards while managing competing priorities and time-sensitive deliverables. You will also help optimize publishing workflows, leverage AI-powered tools, and drive continuous process improvement. Beyond editing, you will mentor junior colleagues, share expertise, and strengthen team capabilities. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced editorial professional passionate about language, technical accuracy, and producing content that supports critical cybersecurity decisions.

Accountabilities:
  • Perform comprehensive developmental, substantive, and copy editing of cybersecurity intelligence reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to established editorial guidelines and style standards.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of English grammar, syntax, mechanics, and writing conventions to identify subtle errors, inconsistencies, and formatting issues before publication.
  • Provide clear, objective, and constructive explanations for editorial changes while maintaining professional standards and preserving the intended meaning of technical content.
  • Collaborate with analysts, writers, engineers, creative teams, and editorial colleagues to produce high-quality intelligence publications that meet demanding deadlines.
  • Manage editorial queues, publishing schedules, checklists, and established workflows to ensure timely and efficient delivery of publication-ready materials.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, navigating editorial feedback and disagreements diplomatically without compromising quality or editorial integrity.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with publishing platforms and operational procedures, identifying and resolving workflow issues that could delay publication.
  • Integrate available AI tools into editorial processes and identify opportunities to develop new solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and overall quality.
  • Independently manage day-to-day editorial responsibilities, exercise sound judgment, and resolve moderately complex issues using established policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to department-wide improvements by developing resources, refining editorial practices, and supporting professional development initiatives.
  • Mentor junior editors and new team members through on-the-job training, knowledge sharing, and practical guidance on editorial standards and best practices.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with management and colleagues, track ongoing tasks, and remain composed and objective in high-pressure situations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, syntax, punctuation, mechanics, and editorial style, with demonstrated ability to deliver polished, publication-ready content.
  • Significant editorial experience in a structured corporate, technical, or similarly demanding publishing environment, with the ability to work effectively under formal style guides and established quality standards.
  • Proven expertise in developmental editing, substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, and comprehensive quality assurance.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify inconsistencies, assess complex information, and make sound editorial decisions independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy, clarity, objectivity, and editorial integrity.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, and high-priority deliverables simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and resolve professional disagreements diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, build productive working relationships, and communicate project updates and support needs proactively.
  • Familiarity with publishing platforms, structured workflows, and digital editing tools; an interest in using AI-powered solutions to improve editorial productivity and quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and adapt established techniques to solve operational and editorial challenges.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues, supporting onboarding, or contributing to editorial training and professional development initiatives is valuable.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a strong commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and professional growth.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and willing to undergo applicable background checks, which may include criminal record, credit, and reference checks.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual base salary: CAD $90,000–$135,000, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and location.
  • Additional variable or incentive compensation and equity opportunities.
  • Comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs.
  • Competitive vacation allowances and paid time off to support rest and work-life balance.
  • Paid parental and adoption leave.
  • Professional development opportunities available across roles and career levels.
  • Employee networks, geographic community groups, and volunteering opportunities that encourage connection and collaboration.
  • Remote work arrangement for Canada-based employees.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, equal opportunity, and individual contributions.
  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful cybersecurity intelligence work in a technology-driven, innovation-focused environment.
