POSITION SUMMARY: Operates McLean vehicle for the transportation of residents. Responsible for interior cleanliness of the vehicle. Maintains daily log for mileage, riders and related information. Follows all safety requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including bending and turning. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Requires the ability to assist elderly residents in and out of vehicle.
Typical Workinq Conditions: Work is primarily performed safely driving a vehicle on the road and at stopping points. May need to drive in inclement weather.
JOB COMPETENCIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Assumes responsibility for safety issues and concems for ensuring residents are safely seated in the vehicle, during vehicle operation and assisting residents in and out of the van.
- Must maintain safe operation of vehicle at all times and must question safety of driving on certain roads and in certain conditions that could pose a safety hazard.
- Assists riders in an attentive manner when boarding and disembarking vehicle.
- Maintains daily log on mileage, riders, signing in and out of key and other related information as required.
- Responsible for interior of vehicle, fueling and related tasks.
- Reports operating problems or defect of vehicle to supervisor.
- Reports any concerns with riders to the Director of The Robinson. May refuse to transport a rider whom driver feels presents a great safety risk.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge. Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of motor vehicle rules. Competence in the safe operation of vehicles. Ability to work with elderly and/or disabled residents. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to adhere to regulatory guidelines.
Education
High School graduate
Experience
Minimum age of 25 for insurance purposes. Experience in safe operation of o Motor vehicles.
LicenseCurrent valid CT MVD license with clean driving record. Class F preferred and/or willing to obtain.
