Position Overview

The Whiskey River Saloon is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and hardworking Facilities Maintenance/Porter Supervisor to join our team. This working-supervisor position is important to our daily operations, ensuring that both the front-of-house (dining room and bar) and back-of-house (kitchen and storage) areas are meticulously clean, safe, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is trustworthy, has the ability to work independently and direct 1-2 additional team members, possesses basic handyman skills, and understands that a spotless and well-maintained environment is key to an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Facilities Maintenance

  • Identify general facilities maintenance concerns. Prioritize, plan, and assign work to Facilities Maintenance Specialist.
  • Identify facilities maintenance issues that are outside the scope of a general repair and coordinate with contacting outside service providers to have work completed.
  • Communicate facilities maintenance needs with the General Manager, District Manager and the Company's Director of Facilities as needed to coordinate and facilitate repair escalations.
  • Perform & supervise general facilities repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, minor electrical, tightening loose hardware, fixing minor plumbing issues/clogs, and touching up paint.
  • Monitor and report any larger maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to management immediately.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including the entryway, furniture, and removing trash from the perimeter.
  • Ensure all tools, safety, and cleaning equipment are kept organized and in good working order.

2. Facilities Cleanliness, Organization, & Sanitation

  • Supervise the daily/nightly cleaning team. Inspect work and ensure cleanliness and sanitation meets company standards.
  • Identify cleanliness, organization, & sanitation concerns. Prioritize, plan, and assign work to Facilities Maintenance Specialist and cleaning team.
  • Perform & supervise deep cleaning of front-of-house areas and its furniture & fixtures, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting before or after operational hours as needed.
  • Clean and maintain bar areas, including floor drains, under-counter mats, and trash receptacles.
  • Assist with heavy-duty kitchen cleaning tasks as needed (e.g., cleaning hood filters, behind line equipment, and walk-in coolers).
  • Detail and sanitize guest restrooms, ensuring they are continuously stocked with necessary supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper).
  • Manage waste removal, including emptying trash cans, recycling bins, and breaking down cardboard boxes. Maintain the cleanliness of the outdoor dumpster area.
  • Assist with all FOH furniture organization including the set-up and break-down related to group events.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Previous supervisory experience required. Experience performing general facilities maintenance and cleanliness in a restaurant, bar, or other hospitality venue is also strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Basic "handyman" skills and general facilities maintenance knowledge (using basic hand tools, troubleshooting minor fixes). Familiarity with standard cleaning practices, sanitation procedures, and necessary chemicals.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, stoop, climb, push, pull, regularly throughout the shift and lift and carry to 50 lbs. on occasion. Must have adequate vision to discern acceptable maintenance, cleanliness, & sanitation of the facility. Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and operating basic maintenance equipment.
  • Attributes: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage others, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a punctual, reliable work ethic.
