Overview
The Residence Manager oversees the daily operations of a residential program for individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring quality care, regulatory compliance, and a safe, supportive environment. This role supervises and develops staff, monitors individual progress, coordinates medical and behavioral services, and maintains accurate documentation and reporting. The Residence Manager also works closely with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote person-centered services and achieve positive outcomes for residents.
Key ResponsibilityThe primary duties of the Residence Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Staffing
- Ensure the residence is adequately staffed and properly supervised.
- Coordinate and ensure required staff training is completed.
- Conduct weekly supervision meetings with residential staff.
- Monitor staff performance and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Model effective strategies for teaching positive and replacement behaviors.
- Support staff in developing documentation, communication, and technical skills.
Program
- Ensure compliance with all residential program regulations and guidelines.
- Track individual and program outcomes to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with individuals and families to meet service needs and expectations.
Medical Care Oversight
- Maintain accurate medication and medical records for all residents.
- Monitor and coordinate medical appointments, follow-up care, and treatment plans.
- Partner with nursing, medical, and behavioral health professionals to support resident care.
- Maintain relationships with pharmacies, urgent care providers, and other healthcare resources.
- Ensure injuries, accidents, and medical incidents are reported according to agency and OPWDD requirements.
- Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) regularly to ensure compliance.
Reporting / Documentation
- Oversee staff documentation and ensure timely, accurate recordkeeping.
- Ensure incidents, events, and required reports are properly documented and reviewed.
- Conduct monthly unannounced program visits and follow up on corrective actions.
- Monitor billing, Foothold records, training documentation, and other compliance requirements.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with individuals using their preferred communication methods.
- Build positive relationships with families, guardians, advocates, and staff while promoting teamwork and engagement.
Other
- Serve as an on-call resource for emergencies, maintain a safe environment, participate in ongoing professional development, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- B.A. Degree in Human Services or related field
- 2+ years’ experience working in a similar environment, with 1 year in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities
- Ability to learn basic sign language
- Must have a clean NYS Driver’s License
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word and MS Outlook
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
AMAP and First Aid/CPR/AED certification a plus
Additional Requirements:
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
- Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
