Position Title: Journeyman Electrician
Overview
The Senior Journeyman Electrician position works closely with project managers, field supervisors, customers, and fellow technicians to ensure electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and VectorUSA quality standards. This role requires a highly skilled electrician capable of independently performing electrical installations, troubleshooting complex systems, and providing leadership and guidance to junior team members in the field.
This position is based in Southern California and requires travel to customer sites throughout the region. Work schedules may vary based on project and customer requirements, including day, evening, night, and weekend work as needed.Compensation Range: $38.00 - $45.00/hr. (DOE) and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision; paid vacation and holidays; and a 401(k) matching program.
Major Areas of Responsibility- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Install conduit, wiring, panels, lighting systems, controls, and related electrical equipment.
- Inspect electrical components, including transformers, circuit breakers, and distribution equipment.
- Perform electrical testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting using appropriate test equipment.
- Ensure all installations comply with National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, customers, and other trades to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify and resolve electrical issues while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and train apprentices and less experienced electricians in proper installation techniques and safety practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies and industry best practices.
- Participate in project planning, site assessments, and pre-installation reviews as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to team success by supporting other departments and assisting with related tasks as required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid California Journeyman Electrician Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial and/or industrial electrical experience.
- Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local electrical codes.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, branch circuits, and electrical controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and construction documents.
- Demonstrated proficiency using electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Reliable transportation capable of transporting a 6-foot ladder.
- Must provide own hand tools.
- Ability to work flexible schedules based on project requirements, including day shifts, evening shifts, overnight work, and occasional weekends.
- Must be able to pass a post-offer drug screen, physical, background check, and DOJ Livescan fingerprint screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, and working in varying job-site conditions.
- Experience leading crews or acting as a lead electrician on commercial projects.
- Experience working in education, healthcare, government, or mission-critical environments.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Low-voltage, controls, or technology infrastructure experience is a plus.
