Job Description
The Executive Director - Racing responsibilities include the strategic direction and oversight of the company's year-round live harness racing events. In addition, this position includes the strategy, construction, and oversight of outbound simulcast network and management of incoming signals to the track for assigned properties. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the Company
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Owns the creation and execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of racing operations, including establishing race schedules that maximize total wagering and profitability for the enterprise as a whole, recruitment of trainers, and horse supply; works with property and leadership teams to ensure alignment of strategy and goals
- Manages racing department team(s), including setting goals and objectives for team and direct reports for achievement of operational results; making and executing personnel decisions around hiring, disciplining, and termination; managing performance, training, and ensuring adherence safety and compliance standards
- Liaises with the applicable harness/horse racing authorities and regulators on both the local and state level on all racing-related issues, including but not limited to Ohio State Racing Commission and Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association
- Full ownership and P&L responsibility for racing operations
- Manage relationships with relevant vendors and partners, including racing cooperatives, tote system providers, broadcast and communications service providers, other tracks and racing industry groups

Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Related field or equivalent experience Required
Work Experience
- 6+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience Required
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience working in a similar environment Preferred
- Member of United States Trotting Association (USTA) Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of applicable wage and racing boards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, primarily Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both oral and written forms
- Ability to function in fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines
- Ability to multi-task activities, projects, and duties simultaneously
