Overview

About the Role & Team

IDC is the world’s most respected technology market research firm and is currently in the middle of a significant business transformation launching new products, redesigning how we package our intelligence, and rebuilding how we enable the people who deliver it. This co-op role sits inside that transformation.

You’ll work with the Business Operations and People Enablement team to build training content, create process documentation, and identify where AI tools can make our work faster and smarter. The right person is technically curious, a clear communicator, and energized by making complex things simple. You won’t be shadowing someone, you’ll be doing the work.

What You’ll Do

Enablement & content development

  • Translate complex operational processes like new packaging structures, system workflows, product launches into clear, engaging content that helps teams understand how to work within new frameworks and systems.
  • Build training assets including e-learning modules, job aids, quick reference guides, facilitator decks, and post-training reinforcement materials using instructional design principles.
  • Support training needs analysis, maintain the content library, track participation and completion, and assist in coordinating the learning calendar.

AI integration & workflow efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to embed AI tools into training development, enablement, and communications, then test them, document what works, and share findings with the broader team.
  • Help build and maintain community within the team’s AI Playground: contribute prompts, tools, templates, and use cases that others can learn from and build on.
  • Surface best practices that make our processes faster, smarter, and more resilient and translate findings into guides or playbooks the broader team can adopt.
  • Identify manual or repetitive steps in enablement workflows where automation or AI tooling could reduce time and error, and build a simple business case for the ones worth pursuing.

WHAT YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH

  • Real portfolio work: training content, process documentation, and AI workflow prototypes you built and shipped.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise enablement operations inside a global technology market research organization during a major product and business model transformation.
  • A practical understanding of how AI tools integrate into L&D and Business Operations workflows not theoretical, but documented and tested.
  • Exposure to instructional design, change management, and learning operations at a scale many early in their career don’t see.
  • A network inside IDC’s Research & Data organization and a track record you can speak to specifically.

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technology, Information Science, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing whether a how-to guide, a training script, or a process document.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) with intentionality not just casually, but with a clear sense of what you’re prompting for and why.
  • Technical fluency with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, and at least one project management tool (Smartsheet, Excel or Monday.com).
  • Self-directed working style: you can take an ambiguous ask, break it into steps, produce a draft, and ask good clarifying questions when you need them.
  • Genuine interest in systems, process design, and making things more efficient.
  • Hybrid schedule, working in our Boston office 2-3 days per week.

Strongly preferred

  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools (Synthesia or Articulate 360/Rise, Adobe Captivate) or a clear willingness to learn one quickly.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms (Adobe Learning Manager).
  • Experience building or working with data dashboards or reporting tools (Excel pivot tables at minimum).
  • Exposure to prompt engineering, AI workflow automation
  • Familiarity with instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy) or change management methodology (Prosci, Kotter), even from coursework.
