VMSC Emergency Medical Services is seeking an experienced and dynamic paramedic leader to join our Delaware County team as a Shift Commander (Captain). This role is crucial to our ongoing growth and commitment to delivering exceptional emergency medical services across the region. As a Shift Commander, you'll not only lead operationally but also play a pivotal role in mentoring and developing our frontline EMS staff, ensuring they achieve their fullest potential.
About the Position
As a Shift Commander, you will manage a platoon of EMS professionals operating throughout Delaware County. You'll oversee daily EMS operations, provide advanced clinical oversight during critical ALS emergency calls, and supervise complex interfacility transports, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.
This posting is for a Day Shift (primarily 6am-6pm) position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate platoon-wide EMS operations, ensuring readiness, resource allocation, and clinical quality.
- Respond to high-acuity emergency calls, providing advanced life support backup and clinical leadership.
- Supervise and support teams performing interfacility transports, ensuring seamless patient care and safety.
- Mentor and develop frontline EMS staff, fostering a professional and collaborative team environment.
- Conduct operational audits, ensure compliance with Pennsylvania EMS protocols, and oversee Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Paramedic certification from the State of Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain PA Paramedic certification via reciprocity).
- Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and EMSVO certifications.
- Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses.
- Minimum of 3 years in EMS leadership or supervisory experience.
- Proven expertise in ALS emergency responses and interfacility transport management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
This is a FLSA Exempt Salaried position. Salary range is $91,700 - $98,400/year.
