Job Description
Mental Health Kokua (MHK) is hiring a Full-Time Day Program Coordinator on Maui to support a supportive housing (Kauhale) program that values structure, engagement, and community connection. This role focuses on coordinating daily program activities that promote stability, independence, and meaningful routines for residents.
As a Day Program Coordinator, you will support adults in a shared housing setting by developing and facilitating non-clinical, recovery-oriented activities that build life skills, encourage participation, and strengthen community integration.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Program Coordination: Develop, schedule, and oversee structured daily activities that support engagement and routine
- Recovery Programming: Facilitate non-clinical groups focused on wellness, life skills, and social connection
- Resident Engagement: Encourage participation and support residents in building independence and daily structure
- Community Integration: Coordinate outings, resource access, and opportunities for community involvement
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of schedules, attendance, and program activities
- Safety & Response: Respond to incidents and ensure a safe, respectful environment for residents and staff
- Facility Oversight: Coordinate with janitorial support to maintain clean, safe program spaces
- Team Collaboration: Work with residential staff, case managers, and community partners to support resident goals
Day Program Coordinator Qualifications
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent with experience in behavioral health, human services, or residential programs
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and specialized training in case management or human services
- Skills: Strong communication, organization, facilitation, and problem-solving skills; ability to engage and motivate others
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and TB clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Fit for the Role: Comfortable working in a shared housing environment with adults building stability while managing mental health challenges
Requirements & Work Conditions
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Valid Hawaiʻi driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and safety inspection
- Work takes place in a community-based program setting with indoor and outdoor activities
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and travel locally as needed
