Position Summary:

Medical Equipment Technicians are responsible for ensuring safe delivery, providing setup, and education in usage of

home medical equipment for our customers. Setup is done in their home or long-term care setting.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company and all

applicable governmental regulations.

  • Comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Manage territory to reach service goals and deliver equipment including oxygen as required in accordance with

industry standards.

  • Educate customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
  • Complete written patient visits reports following setup and follow-up visits as required.
  • Assist with customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  • Process all orders in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Promote services and products to referral sources in the community as appropriate.
  • Develop basic reimbursement knowledge and completely document all information necessary to ensure

reimbursement for all appropriate equipment, products, and services.

  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company policies.
  • Maintain home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  • Safely drive and maintain company vehicle.
  • Perform patient assessment and re-assessment for patient care.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as required in accordance with

company policies.

  • Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and

procedures.

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
  • Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),

infection control and hazardous materials handling.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintains compliant with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment when assigned by supervisor or down time allows, following the Branch

Maintenance and Cleaning Guidelines

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Competency, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to clean, test and repair home medical equipment.
  • Ability to identify safety hazards and take the necessary precautions.
  • Accurately receive, stock, retrieve and load equipment and supplies.
  • Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities and tasks.
  • Independent decision making
  • Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Entry level sales, customer service background essential
  • Military, delivery driver with sales component or health care technician experience would be considered related

experience.

  • One (1) year of HME delivery experience preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence
  • Senior level requires two (2) years’ experience in HME delivering and setting up medical equipment in patient

homes.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 85 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and

occasionally lift and/or move up to 160 pounds.

  • Must be able to stretch, bend, stoop and crouch and perform moderate to heavy physical labor while moving

equipment and supplies.

  • Subject to long periods of sitting and driving.
  • Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall work activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • May be exposed to unsanitary conditions in some home settings.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold, direct, or indirect contact with airborne,

bloodborne, and/or other potentially infectious pathogen.

  • May be exposed to high crime areas within the service community.
  • Must be able to drive independently and travel as needed.
  • May be exposed to angry or irate customers.
  • Must be able to access the patient’s residence without assistance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy,

compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
