Regional Sales Director (West): Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery Division | Aesculap
Position Summary:
This leadership role is accountable for recruiting, developing, and leading a regional sales organization that can deliver sustained revenue growth and strong customer engagement. The Regional Sales Director will establish clear priorities, build regional execution plans, manage performance, and create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus. The individual in this role will work cross-functionally with marketing, national sales leadership, corporate accounts, and other internal partners to align commercial strategy with field execution and business objectives.
*Please note: There are two openings available (East and West); regions are split west of Chicago, running north to south
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing regional team of sales representatives to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Recruit, onboard, develop, coach, and retain top sales talent while creating a strong performance-driven culture.
- Set regional objectives, quotas, and performance expectations aligned with division goals and growth priorities.
- Develop and execute regional business plans that expand market share, increase customer penetration, and accelerate adoption of the laparoscopic surgery portfolio.
- Provide regular field coaching, performance feedback, and development planning to improve individual and team effectiveness.
- Partner with marketing and national sales leadership on go-to-market strategy, product launches, campaigns, and commercial initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with surgeons, hospital administrators, health systems, and key opinion leaders.
- Support strategic account development and help navigate complex health system and IDN sales environments.
- Ensure effective territory coverage, resource deployment, and organizational structure to support regional growth.
- Deliver accurate forecasting, business reviews, and performance updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive sales experience, with significant experience in medical device, surgical, or healthcare sales
- Minimum of 3–5 years of sales leadership experience managing field-based teams across a multi-state region.
- Demonstrated success in building, developing, and scaling sales organizations in a growth-oriented environment.
- Strong track record of delivering revenue growth, leading through change, and improving sales execution.
- Experience working with surgeons, hospital systems, and complex healthcare selling environments.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to analyze market opportunities, interpret performance data, and translate insights into action.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, forecasting tools, and standard business applications.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic surgery, or related surgical specialties.
- Experience leading teams through new product launches, market expansion, or organizational scaling.
- Exposure to strategic account management, GPO/IDN environments, and executive-level customer engagement.

Location and Travel:
This is a remote field leadership position. The selected candidate should reside within the assigned East or West region and be willing to travel extensively throughout the territory to support the sales team, meet with customers, and drive commercial execution.
Candidates should reside near a major airport, with expected travel >50%
