- The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Maintenance Instructor will support the Common Initial Training (CIT) Program at EPRI, focusing on the training and development of instrumentation and controls technicians at member nuclear sites. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, standardized training while ensuring student comprehension, performance tracking, and alignment with member needs. The position blends student engagement, adherence to systematic training processes, and collaboration with the instructor team and EPRI SMEs, with opportunities to grow into expanded instructional, programmatic, and research responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery of instrumentation and controls (I&C) maintenance training for new hires and technicians across member organizations
- Collaborate with CIT team to implement procedures and program responsibilities to meet member needs
- Work directly with students to reinforce learning, ensure concept mastery, and provide other learning support
- Track student performance, progress, and completion of required content
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with established procedures and standards
- Follow and apply the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) in all training activities in accordance with approved EPRI procedures
- Coordinate with member organizations to support site-specific training needs and alignment
- Assist in continuous improvement of training materials and delivery methods
- Contribute to development of new training content and modernization efforts
- Support research initiatives related to discipline area of expertise, technical training, workforce development, and learning innovations
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, electrical, I&C, or related) or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience as an I&C maintenance technician in a nuclear or regulated environment
- Industry-recognized training certification
- Working knowledge of Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work directly with learners in a virtual setting and support instructional delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting formal training programs in nuclear or highly regulated industries
- Experience working with eLearning training authoring tools and processes
- Exposure to instructional design or curriculum development
- Experience interacting with utility or member organizations
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) or training tracking tools

This role is designed to grow with the Common Initial Training Program. Over time, the individual is expected to take on increased responsibility in instructional delivery, curriculum development, and participation in research efforts related to I&C training, workforce development, and learning innovation.

- Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
- Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
- Demonstrates responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking is required. Applies technical expertise , and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Has developed relationships with primary advisors to a research area. - Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
- Communicates strategies and results, written and verbal, to program members, potential members and external stakeholders through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences. Continues to communicate work across EPRI programs to make sure parallel work is informed.
- May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met. Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
- Supports the planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.
- Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets , resources , and supports proposal efforts and new promotional work.
- Begin interfacing with national and international technical networks (e.g, manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations).

This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
