Job Description
Responsible for receiving, reviewing, pulling, and organizing medications, pharmaceutical products, and
medical supplies according to order specifications. Duties include preparing orders and supply kits with items
such as injectables, syringes, needles, insulin, alcohol, pills, and troches, ensuring the correct products and
quantities are selected. Organizes orders by priority, follows proper procedures for refrigerated and non-
refrigerated products, and places completed orders in designated areas for the next stage of processing or
final review. Maintains accuracy, organization, and attention to detail throughout the process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Management:
- Order Verification: Reviews each order to ensure the correct patient, products, and quantities are selected.
- Order Tracking: Monitors and organizes orders according to priority and workflow.
- Product Collection: Pulls medications and medical supplies from designated stations as specified in the order.
- Order Assembly: Combines all required items to ensure each order or kit is complete.
- Accuracy and Organization: Verifies completed orders and places them in the designated area for the next step.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Clear communication of issues: Reports any supply shortages, order errors, or protocol deviations.
- Coordination with adjacent stations: Transfers orders to the Regular Injectable station when required, following established protocol.
- Effective teamwork: Collaborates efficiently with staff from other stations to maintain a steady workflow.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Accurate recording of processed orders: Documents which components were packed in each order.
- Exception tracking: Notes and reports any missing items or inconsistencies in orders.
- Adherence to documented protocols: Ensures procedures are strictly followed and properly documented when necessary.
Daily Workflow Management:
- Prioritization of urgent orders: Identifies and prepares urgent or fast orders first.
- Organization of the workspace: Keeps supplies well-sorted and orders placed in their designated racks.
- Adaptability to changes: Quickly adjusts to variations in order volume or protocol updates.
Skills and Abilities:
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in order preparation and strict adherence to requirements.
- Time Management: Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery times.
- Organization: Orderly handling of multiple orders simultaneously.
- Technical Aptitude: Knowledge of proper handling of refrigerated pharmaceutical products.
- Communication: Clear coordination with Filtering staff, Fillers, and other stations.
- Teamwork: Collaboration with colleagues to maintain an efficient workflow.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician or applicable state license required.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in pharmacy, laboratory, or healthcare logistics environments preferred.
- Experience in compounding pharmacies or handling injectable/refrigerated products preferred.
- Must have written and verbal English communication skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or move continuously during the 8 to 10 hour work shift.
- Capability to lift and handle trays, supplies, and packages up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Manual precision for handling syringes, needles, and small supplies.
- Tolerance for working in temperature-controlled (refrigerated) environments.
- Constant use of personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, mask, eye protection, etc.
- Good vision (with correction if necessary) for reading labels and verifying products.
