Join the Summer Lifeguard Team at the YMCA of Metro North!The YMCA of Metro North is looking for energetic, safety-minded individuals to join our aquatics team for the upcoming summer season. With both indoor and outdoor pools in Peabody, Saugus, Melrose, and Lynn, we have plenty of opportunities for you to work in your local community.

What We OfferGreat Pay: We are offering a seasonal rate of $20.00 per hour from June through August.

Career Growth: Opportunities are also available for Head Lifeguards and Swim Instructors.

Free Training: Not certified yet? No problem! If you are willing to learn, we will train you and help you get your certifications.

The RoleAs a lifeguard, your main priority is the safety and well-being of everyone in and around the pool. During the summer, a big part of the job involves watching over our excited day campers and making sure they have a fun, safe experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Stay Alert: Maintain constant watch over the pool and surrounding deck.

Be Prepared: Know emergency procedures and respond immediately if a situation arises.

Build Community: Create a positive environment by being friendly and helpful to members, campers, and fellow staff.

Keep it Clean & Safe: Check pool conditions, test water chemistry throughout the day, and ensure all safety equipment is ready for use.

Professional Growth: Attend staff meetings and regular training sessions to keep your skills sharp.

Who We Are Looking ForAge: Must be at least 16 years old.

Certifications: You should have (or be willing to get) CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications.

Skills: You must be able to pass a water test and demonstrate lifeguard skills according to Red Cross standards.

Physical Readiness: You’ll need to stay fit and be able to swim laps monthly to ensure you're always ready to help someone in need.

Communication: You should be able to speak clearly and project your voice, even in a loud pool environment.

Shift DetailsWe offer flexible scheduling including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. You may work solo or as part of a larger team depending on the pool and time of day.
