This is an opportunity to build and scale secure, developer-first identity products in a remote-first engineering environment.
You’ll contribute to backend systems powering authentication, authorization, and emerging agentic and non-human identity use cases.
The role combines hands-on software development with meaningful ownership of architecture, technical decisions, and product delivery.
You’ll work closely with product and engineering leaders to translate customer needs into high-impact platform capabilities.
The environment offers startup-style speed and autonomy while supporting products operating at significant global scale.
You’ll also help strengthen system reliability, observability, and production resilience while contributing to engineering best practices.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and building products used by paying customers.
- Build and operate backend capabilities for an identity platform, including APIs, authentication flows, and functionality supporting agentic and non-human identities.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to define technical direction, translate customer needs into product capabilities, and deliver roadmap initiatives.
- Collaborate across engineering teams to align architecture, integrate platform capabilities, and remove technical blockers from cross-team projects.
- Take end-to-end technical ownership by writing design documents, making architectural decisions, reviewing code, and remaining accountable for the systems delivered.
- Break down complex and ambiguous problems, make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs, and create intuitive developer experiences.
- Improve production reliability through effective observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
- Support the growth of fellow engineers through pairing, feedback, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating high-scale, mission-critical cloud-based production systems.
- Experience working with production-grade codebases in modern programming languages and applying strong software engineering and coding practices.
- Extensive experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and product teams.
- Availability to participate in a non-standard schedule, including on-call rotations, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, and DynamoDB is highly desirable.
- Experience building developer tools, SDKs, or products used directly by paying customers is a plus.
- A strong builder mindset, curiosity, ownership, and enthusiasm for turning ideas into working products.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguity, make sound technical decisions, and balance speed with reliability and maintainability.
- Competitive salary, with estimated ranges of $106,320–$132,900 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington D.C.; $112,560–$140,700 in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and California outside the San Francisco Bay Area; and $125,040–$156,300 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Potential eligibility for equity participation and a corporate bonus plan.
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage and other location-dependent benefits.
- 401(k) retirement savings program.
- Paid sick time and paid personal time off.
- Paid parental leave.
- Remote-first work environment with occasional travel for team or project meetings.
- Opportunities to work on high-scale identity infrastructure and emerging technologies such as agentic and non-human identity.
- A high-ownership environment offering opportunities for technical growth, collaboration, and meaningful customer impact.
