Robotic Weld Operator II - 1st Shift in Bloomingdale, Illinois at CGI

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a Robotic Weld Operator II who is responsible for operating, monitoring, and performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance on robotic welding equipment. This position requires a solid understanding of welding processes, quality standards, and robotic equipment operation in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has prior experience with robotic weld cells and demonstrates the ability to work independently while meeting production and quality requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and oversee robotic welding cells, ensuring parts are loaded, cycled, and unloaded properly
• Perform inspections of welds using visual methods and measurement tools to verify quality against specifications
• Adjust welding parameters and perform basic programming adjustments as needed to maintain weld quality
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment malfunctions and quality issues
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, changing consumables, and verifying fixture alignment
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions
• Document production and inspection data accurately
• Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement
• Adhere to safety protocols and participate in 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Provide guidance and training to Robotic Weld Operator I personnel as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a manufacturing, production, assembly, machine operation, or similar industrial environment
• Experience performing basic inspections and measurements
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with manufacturing equipment
• Ability to follow written work instructions and established procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment
• Reliable work history and dependable attendance
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience operating robotic welding cells
• Experience working with robotic welding equipment (FANUC, ABB, OTC, or similar systems)
• Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards and inspection processes
• Ability to read blueprints, prints, or manufacturing drawings
• Basic experience making robotic parameter adjustments or setup changes

The following qualifications are helpful but are not required for consideration:

• MIG or TIG welding experience
• Welding certifications
• Traditional welder experience
• Advanced robotic programming experience
• Formal welding education

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
