Job Description

Description:

Doggett Concrete Construction is a company specializing in concrete construction, particularly focusing on multifamily projects in the Southeastern United States. We place a significant emphasis on maintaining a safe work environment for our employees, subcontractors, and clients. We pride ourselves on building deep relationships with trade partners.

We are seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our commercial division. This position is responsible for placing, finishing, and repairing concrete on commercial construction projects while maintaining our standards for quality, productivity, and safety.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial concrete work and is comfortable working as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment. This is a full-time position for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality finished concrete and is willing to assist with other concrete construction activities as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Place, spread, level, screed, and finish concrete on commercial construction projects
  • Finish slabs, foundations, footings, walls, sidewalks, equipment pads, and other concrete surfaces
  • Perform hand and power trowel finishing as required
  • Use floats, edgers, groovers, trowels, screeds, and other concrete finishing tools
  • Apply broom, smooth, hard-trowel, and other specified finishes
  • Establish and maintain proper elevations, slopes, grades, and surface tolerances
  • Set and check screed rails, grades, and elevations prior to concrete placement
  • Assist with concrete placement, including directing concrete, raking, vibrating, and screeding
  • Monitor concrete during placement and finishing to determine proper timing for finishing operations
  • Form and finish edges, joints, steps, curbs, pads, and other details as required
  • Saw cut and install/control joints as required
  • Patch, rub, grind, or repair concrete surfaces as needed
  • Assist with curing and protection of completed concrete
  • Operate power trowels and other concrete finishing equipment safely and effectively
  • Inspect completed work for quality and correct deficiencies when necessary
  • Assist with formwork, stripping forms, cleanup, and other concrete construction activities when needed
  • Maintain and properly care for company tools and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Follow company and jobsite safety requirements at all times
  • Work effectively with Foremen, Superintendents, and other crew members to meet project schedules and production goals

We are looking for a skilled concrete finisher who takes pride in the finished product and understands the importance of quality, timing, and teamwork during a concrete pour.

The right person understands that concrete finishing requires more than knowing how to use a trowel. They should be able to read the concrete, anticipate what needs to happen next, maintain proper grades and elevations, and work with the rest of the crew to keep the placement moving efficiently.

We also expect our finishers to be team players. When finishing work is not required, they should be willing to assist with placement, forming, stripping, cleanup, and other concrete construction activities needed to keep the project moving.

Requirements:
  • Previous commercial concrete finishing experience preferred
  • Clean record and valid driver's license
  • Dependable and able to report to work on time
  • Willingness to work early mornings, extended hours, and overtime when concrete placements require it
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and working on your feet for extended periods
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be capable of completing a Job Specific Physical

This is a full-time opportunity with competitive compensation. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, paid holidays and a 401(k).
