DFW - Assistant Safety Manager

The Spirit of the Position:

The Assistant Safety Manager at DFW Airport assists with overseeing the safety, maintenance and compliance portions of the shuttle operations at our airport location under the direction of the Airport Safety Manager and the Airport General Managers. This key role ensures that all shuttles operate in a safe, efficient manner and are compliant to all DOT regulations. This person should have a positive People First attitude, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and be motivated to helping others. Principal Job Duties:

Possess and exhibit a People First How can I help attitude.

Ensure staff adheres to rules of conduct, policies and procedures.

Supervise, mentor, and/or train shuttle drivers on day-to-day activities.

Assist in establishing performance standards, recommending, and implementing changes to procedures when necessary.

Exhibit positive internal and external customer service with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.

Enforce DOT regulations and LAZ safety standards.

Monitor driver logs and conduct audits to ensure compliance.

Coach team members on safety concerns.

Complete necessary reporting.

Oversee preventative maintenance and service schedules for the fleet.

Manage shuttle maintenance needs with local vendors.

Conduct spot checks.

Assist with periodic training.

Assist with creation of weekly transportation schedule and ensure consistent service levels.

Manage GPS vehicle tracking systems and route performance software.

Ensure signage, communication devices, and other shuttle equipment are operational.

Basic computer skills.

Oversee preventative maintenance and service schedules for the shuttle fleet.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and service history.

Ensure all vehicles meet safety and cleanliness standards.

Prepare usage, maintenance, and shift reports for leadership.

Coordinate with other airport departments to support operational efficiency.

Address customer service issues and resolve operational concerns promptly.

Other related duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid CDL with passenger endorsement

Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Strong customer service experience.

Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle fleet operations.

Proficient in scheduling tools, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Availability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.

Demonstrate a sense of urgency and timeliness.

Demonstrate the ability to seek improvement.

Excellent teambuilding and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.

Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.

Willingness to work in the elements heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
