Travel RN- Surgical ICU 12hr Nights in Peoria, Illinois at Fidelity On Call, LTD

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Registered Nurse provides direct care to critically ill patients recovering from major surgery or experiencing complex surgical conditions. The RN assesses patients, develops and implements individualized plans of care, administers medications and treatments, monitors for changes in condition, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities
Assess patients and closely monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and changes in condition.
Care for patients with complex postoperative and surgical needs, according to unit protocols.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered.
Monitor and care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, invasive monitoring, or vasoactive medications, as appropriate to the assignment.
Develop and update individualized plans of care.
Recognize and promptly escalate signs of patient deterioration.
Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and plans of care.
Coordinate care with surgeons, providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
Follow all patient safety and infection prevention standards.

Qualifications
Active, unencumbered Illinois RN license.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
ACLS certification if required by the facility.
Minimum of one year of recent Surgical ICU experience.
Strong critical care assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and time management skills.
Experience with ventilators, invasive monitoring, and vasoactive medications.
Level I hospital experience preferred; required for some units.
Epic experience preferred.
