This executive operations role will lead the design, launch, and ongoing optimization of a direct-to-patient healthcare delivery model.
The position will oversee critical operational infrastructure, ensuring seamless patient journeys across digital intake, telehealth, fulfillment, billing, and support programs.
You will play a key role in bringing an innovative healthcare offering to market while building scalable processes for long-term growth.
The role combines operational leadership, systems thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and team development within a fast-paced launch environment.
You will partner with commercial, technology, compliance, access, and external service teams to deliver reliable, patient-centered experiences.

The Director, Direct-to-Patient Operations will own the operational execution of a new healthcare delivery channel, ensuring that systems, workflows, teams, and external partners are aligned for successful launch and scale. This role requires strong operational leadership, process optimization capabilities, and the ability to translate strategic channel plans into reliable day-to-day execution.
- Own the operational infrastructure for the direct-to-patient channel, including intake workflows, patient routing, fulfillment processes, billing operations, and support systems.
- Translate channel strategy into operational processes, standard operating procedures, execution plans, and readiness frameworks.
- Ensure all operational systems and workflows are launch-ready through testing, validation, contingency planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead the design and management of cash-pay, coupon, and copay support programs, ensuring accurate payment workflows and patient-friendly experiences.
- Oversee intake operations, benefits verification, and prior authorization processes to reduce friction and improve patient access.
- Define and manage operational performance metrics, including service levels, fulfillment timelines, approval rates, conversion metrics, and patient experience indicators.
- Build reporting frameworks and dashboards to provide leadership with visibility into operational health and performance.
- Establish governance processes with internal teams and external partners, ensuring accountability and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Manage relationships with operational vendors and partners, driving performance improvements and adherence to service expectations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior operations professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, access, medical, legal, regulatory, compliance, analytics, and technology teams to support successful execution.
The successful candidate will be an experienced healthcare operations leader with a strong background in building scalable patient-focused capabilities. They should combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution skills and have experience operating in complex, highly regulated environments.
- Doctorate degree with 4+ years of commercial, digital health, operations, or marketing experience; or Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, digital health, telehealth, or consumer health operations.
- Experience designing and operating direct-to-patient or direct-to-consumer healthcare models, including intake, telehealth, fulfillment, payments, and patient support programs.
- Strong understanding of prior authorization workflows, benefits verification, specialty therapies, and healthcare access operations.
- Experience managing cash-pay programs, copay assistance programs, coupon administration, and related financial processes.
- Demonstrated success managing vendors, operational partners, service-level agreements, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Experience launching new operational capabilities within compressed timelines and complex business environments.
- Strong systems and technology fluency, with the ability to translate operational needs into workflow requirements and collaborate with technical teams.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing operational teams.
- Data-driven approach with experience managing KPIs, operational performance metrics, and patient experience outcomes.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while maintaining operational excellence.
