Junior Aviation Planner

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Junior Aviation Planner based in United States.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful aviation planning and environmental projects while developing expertise within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
The position supports airport planning initiatives that improve infrastructure, sustainability, and community outcomes.
You will work alongside experienced planners and technical specialists on projects involving airport development, environmental evaluations, airspace analysis, and facility planning.
The role combines research, data analysis, technical documentation, and stakeholder collaboration to support successful project delivery.

Accountabilities:

The Junior Aviation Planner supports aviation planning and environmental consulting projects by conducting research, preparing technical materials, assisting with analyses, and collaborating with project teams. The role requires attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to contribute effectively to client-focused solutions.

  • Support aviation planning projects including airport master plans, airport layout plans, site selection studies, obstruction analyses, forecasting, environmental reviews, noise studies, and sustainability evaluations.
  • Research, collect, organize, and analyze aviation-related data to support technical studies and project deliverables.
  • Prepare graphics, maps, reports, presentations, and other planning documentation using relevant technical tools.
  • Apply aviation planning principles, land use regulations, environmental requirements, and industry standards to support project recommendations.
  • Conduct technical analyses related to airfield, airspace, terminal, and ground transportation facilities.
  • Participate in client meetings, stakeholder workshops, advisory committees, and technical discussions.
  • Assist project managers with coordination, documentation, scheduling, and administrative activities to support successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute ideas to improve project outcomes and client solutions.
  • Continue developing technical expertise through training, mentorship, and exposure to emerging aviation technologies.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings foundational aviation planning knowledge, strong analytical abilities, and a willingness to grow within a consulting environment. This position requires effective communication skills, technical curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while contributing to high-quality project work.

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation planning, aviation management, or a related field.
  • 2–7 years of experience in aviation planning or a related aviation industry role, with preference for candidates with 3+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of airport planning concepts, airspace considerations, land use regulations, and environmental processes.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, Advisory Circulars, and relevant airport planning standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS or similar technical applications.
  • Understanding of analytical methods and tools, including spreadsheet, database, statistical, simulation, and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documents and communicate planning information effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal teams while building professional relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and support project priorities.
  • Interest in using emerging technologies, including AI tools, while maintaining professional judgment, quality standards, and data privacy practices.
  • Ability to travel periodically to project sites, meetings, and industry events.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks for project assignments.
