Azure Data Platform Support Engineer (SRE) Azure Networking & Platform Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Azure Data Platform Support Engineer (SRE) – Azure Networking & Platform Operations based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to support and optimize enterprise-scale Azure data and AI platforms within a cloud-focused operations environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring platform reliability, security, and performance across critical data services and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
The position combines Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, Azure platform operations, networking expertise, automation, and incident management.
You will work with modern technologies including Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Kubernetes, and cloud monitoring solutions.
The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to improve operational processes through automation and continuous improvement.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cloud engineers, data engineers, security specialists, architects, and developers.
Your work will directly contribute to maintaining resilient, secure, and scalable data platforms that support business-critical operations.

Accountabilities:

The Azure Data Platform Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving cloud data platforms while ensuring reliability, security, and operational excellence across hybrid environments.

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for Azure data platforms, cloud services, and production incidents.
  • Support and manage Azure data services including Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Unity Catalog, and related data platform components.
  • Monitor Azure workloads, data pipelines, reporting services, alerts, and performance indicators to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot cloud networking components including Azure Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, proxies, load balancers, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Perform incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and proactive remediation activities.
  • Implement and maintain security controls including IAM, RBAC, identity policies, access management, and compliance requirements.
  • Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, Python, Bash, and KQL.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Git-based workflows, and operational automation processes.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, data engineers, BI developers, DevOps teams, architects, security teams, and SRE professionals.
  • Support monitoring and observability practices using tools such as Azure Monitor, Datadog, Grafana, and other cloud monitoring solutions.
  • Assist with disaster recovery, high availability, business continuity, and operational resilience initiatives.
  • Improve support processes by identifying automation opportunities, reducing recurring issues, and enhancing platform stability.
  • Manage operational activities following ITIL practices, including incident, change, and problem management processes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting Azure-based data platforms, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise networking environments, combined with excellent troubleshooting and collaboration skills.

  • Advanced English proficiency required for collaboration with international teams.
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise data and AI platforms in Azure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure services including Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, metadata management, and identity/access management.
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking concepts including Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, proxies, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience with cloud security practices including IAM, RBAC, policies, firewalls, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools including PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, Python, Bash, and KQL.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability solutions such as Azure Monitor, Datadog, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD workflows using GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and Git-based release processes.
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools and ETL/orchestration technologies such as SSIS, Power Query, Azure Data Factory, and Airflow.
  • Experience supporting containerized environments using Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, CNI plugins, Istio, or Calico.
  • Knowledge of Power BI administration, workspace management, dashboard support, and performance optimization.
  • Understanding of ITIL-based operational processes, incident management, change management, RCA practices, and disaster recovery principles.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, AWS Networking Specialty, Palo Alto PCNSE, Databricks Administration, or ITIL Foundation are considered a plus.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments, hybrid data platforms, cloud networking, or SRE operations is highly valued.
