- Lead complex litigation in state and federal courts, managing cases from strategy development through hearings, trials, appeals, and final resolution.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop impact litigation opportunities that align with organizational priorities and long-term legal objectives.
- Supervise, mentor, and support staff attorneys by reviewing legal work, providing guidance, and fostering professional development.
- Direct litigation teams across multiple matters, coordinating legal research, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, client representation, and case management.
- Draft and oversee high-quality legal briefs, memoranda, advocacy materials, and amicus curiae submissions.
- Collaborate with colleagues on legislative initiatives, public policy advocacy, and legal strategies that advance civil rights protections.
- Provide legal guidance and technical expertise to external attorneys, advocacy organizations, and stakeholders navigating complex legal issues.
- Support legal referral and information services by assisting with legal intakes, referrals, and guidance for individuals seeking assistance.
- Participate in internal committees, cross-functional initiatives, and strategic planning efforts to strengthen organizational impact.
- Represent the organization professionally in court proceedings, public forums, legislative settings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, including substantial experience with complex litigation, motion practice, trials, and appellate advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to lead sophisticated litigation matters and develop long-term legal strategies.
- Experience in constitutional, civil rights, administrative, anti-discrimination, healthcare, education, family, or related areas of law is highly valued.
- Strong commitment to advancing civil rights, equality, and broader social justice initiatives, with familiarity with legal issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities and related advocacy areas.
- Proven experience supervising, mentoring, or leading attorneys and multidisciplinary legal teams.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical writing, oral advocacy, negotiation, and courtroom presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across legal teams, clients, public officials, and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to balance independent judgment with collaborative teamwork in a fully remote environment.

- Competitive salary based on post-law school experience:
- 11–19 years of experience: $145,000–$170,000
- 20–29 years of experience: $170,000–$200,000
