Job Description

Sr. Tax Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Tax Accountant based in United States.

As a Sr. Tax Accountant, you will serve as a key technical resource supporting U.S. federal and state corporate income tax activities within a high-growth SaaS environment.
You will own and support tax compliance, quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provisions, estimated payments, and tax account reconciliations.
The role combines technical tax expertise with hands-on analysis, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
Your work will help ensure tax positions are accurate, well-documented, defensible, and aligned with SOX requirements.
You’ll also identify opportunities to automate and streamline high-volume tax processes using data and technology.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping build scalable tax processes within a rapidly evolving global organization.

Accountabilities
  • Facilitate the end-to-end preparation, review, extension, and timely filing of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns, as well as quarterly estimated tax payments, while following established SOX processes and deadlines.
  • Prepare or review quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate reconciliations, financial statement disclosures, and supporting workpapers.
  • Conduct technical research on federal and state tax legislation, apportionment methodologies, income tax nexus developments, and other evolving tax requirements, documenting conclusions to an audit-ready standard.
  • Support federal and state income tax audits by coordinating information document requests, preparing supporting documentation, and assisting leadership in defending established tax positions.
  • Execute key SOX controls related to the income tax close process and prepare or review monthly and quarterly tax account reconciliations, including deferred tax assets, deferred tax liabilities, and income tax payable accounts within NetSuite.
  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Legal to assess the tax and internal-control implications of new entities, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing arrangements, and other business developments.
  • Collaborate with external tax preparers, advisors, and auditors to validate, document, and support the organization’s income tax positions.
  • Analyze large, high-volume datasets and identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve tax reporting and compliance workflows.
  • Contribute to process improvements and data-driven initiatives that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and allow the tax team to focus on higher-value analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation or Master of Taxation degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in direct or corporate income tax, including U.S. federal and state taxation; a combination of public accounting and corporate experience is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal and state corporate income tax principles, with the ability to research complex tax matters and develop well-supported conclusions.
  • Hands-on experience with SOX-controlled environments, including designing, executing, documenting, or testing income tax controls and working with internal or external auditors.
  • Familiarity with tax considerations affecting fast-growing, multi-state SaaS businesses, including state apportionment and evolving state income tax requirements.
  • Experience with financial and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle, as well as tax provision and compliance platforms such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE or Corptax.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation, and analysis of large transactional datasets; experience with Power BI, Alteryx, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and leverage technology or AI-enabled tools to improve tax processes and team efficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate tax issues, interpret data, and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders and produce thorough documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly, reprioritize effectively, and perform successfully in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and execution-oriented approach with the confidence to work across multiple functions and with external partners.
Benefits
  • Annual salary range of $84,000–$103,000.
  • Remote work environment.
  • Opportunity to work within a fast-growing, technology-driven SaaS organization.
  • Cross-functional exposure to Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Opportunities to leverage automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve processes and expand your impact.
  • Professional development opportunities within a global, remote-first environment.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of complex corporate tax processes and contribute to scalable systems and controls.
  • Collaborative culture focused on initiative, clarity, execution, and continuous improvement.
