We are looking for a Commercial Boiler Maintenance Technician to join our field service team.
Controlled Combustion maintains one of the largest and most qualified licensed heating specialist teams in the industry. Our service personnel are highly trained professionals who receive rigorous in-house training, along with ongoing instruction from factory-authorized experts and educational institutions, to keep their technical knowledge current and their maintenance skills sharp.
Our shop has earned the prestigious National Board Repair “R” Certificate of Authorization and Symbol Stamp, as well as the “U” Certificate of Authorization and Symbol Stamp, reflecting our service expertise. Our technicians are also certified ASME code welders.
We maintain a Class “A” installers license in New York City and are licensed throughout the metropolitan area.
This is a hands-on field position for someone with experience in commercial boiler maintenance, including work on various boiler types such as Scotch marine boilers, cast iron sectional boilers, atmospheric boilers, and modular boilers. The right candidate should be dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in commercial boiler rooms.
Responsibilities
- Perform commercial boiler maintenance at customer locations.
- Complete fireside vacuum cleaning.
- Complete waterside power-wash cleaning.
- Operate high-powered truck-mounted vacuum equipment.
- Drain, refill, and isolate boiler systems as needed.
- Replace and install gauge glasses, stack thermometers, and related boiler components.
- Perform minor repairs to low-pressure boilers.
- Assist with maintenance of Scotch marine boilers, cast iron sectional boilers, atmospheric boilers, modular boilers, and related commercial heating equipment.
- Follow company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and industry best practices.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and other team members.
- Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
- Participate in overtime, weekend work, and holiday work as needed.

Experience Preferred
- Commercial boiler maintenance: 1 year preferred
- Experience with Scotch marine boilers, cast iron sectional boilers, atmospheric boilers, or modular boilers preferred
- Experience with fireside and waterside boiler cleaning preferred
- Experience operating truck-mounted vacuum equipment is a plus
- Experience with minor low-pressure boiler repairs is a plus

Qualifications / Skills
- Experience with commercial boiler maintenance.
- Mechanical ability and comfort working with commercial heating equipment.
- Familiarity with Scotch marine boilers, cast iron sectional boilers, atmospheric boilers, modular boilers, and related boiler systems preferred.
- Ability to perform fireside vacuum cleaning and waterside power-wash cleaning.
- Ability to assist with system draining, refilling, and isolating.
- Ability to replace or install gauge glasses, stack thermometers, and related boiler components.
- Ability to perform minor repairs to low-pressure boilers.
- Comfortable using hand tools, maintenance equipment, and field service equipment.
- Strong attention to safety, detail, and proper work procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in the field at customer locations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Professional communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least 1 year of commercial boiler maintenance experience preferred.
- Prior experience in heating, boiler maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related trade is a plus.
