REPORTS TO: Front of House Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Part time, overhire, non-exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Show specific, generally Tuesday-Sunday, evening and holidays required
COMPENSATION: $23.50 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
As a vital part of the Audience Services team, Front of House Concessions staff provide elevated hospitality to patrons from diverse backgrounds. Berkeley Rep’s Front of House Concessions team is expected to promote a culture of Radical Welcome and inclusivity while maintaining accuracy, safety, and efficiency in serving food and beverage. All essential job duties must be conducted in person on Berkeley Rep's campuses.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an emotionally intelligent, observant, and outgoing team member. The best candidate will be someone who takes initiative, loves talking to new people, and enjoys the fast pace of food service. Someone with knowledge of food service standards and bartending experience is ideal, but training is provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Radical Welcome by greeting guests, answering questions, and processing concession orders.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of concession offerings, including snacks, beverages, pricing, and promotions.
- Prepare and serve beverages according to portion standards, and responsible service practices.
- Maintain accurate pour amounts and product consistency for all beverage services.
- Operate point-of-sale systems and credit card transactions accurately.
- Stock, organize, and replenish concession inventory before, during, and after events.
- Maintain clean and organized concession areas, storage spaces, and service stations.
- Follow all food handling, sanitation, and health code requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to supervisors.
- Assist with opening and closing cleaning procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient service during high-volume periods.
- Contribute to a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for guests and team members.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest needs, operational updates, and communications from supervisors and team members.
- Demonstrate a high degree of coachability and ability to integrate feedback into daily workflows and processes.
- Actively participate in workshops and training, including harassment prevention, bystander intervention, and antiracism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Ability to learn product information, pricing, and service procedures.
- Basic point-of-sale experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and responsiveness to communication.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, and stock concession supplies as needed.
- A strong interest in and commitment to antiracism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access (AEDIA) initiatives.
