The Art Handler/Driver reports directly to the Transportation Manager and serves as a key member of the art handling team, providing services for clients at a variety of locations, including galleries, museums, private residences, corporate offices, and other cultural institutions. This position is responsible for the safe handling, transportation, installation, packing, and storage of artwork and cultural objects while delivering exceptional customer service. The Art Handler/Driver works closely with the Transportation Manager and warehouse team to ensure the efficient execution of projects and the highest standards of care for client property.

Work Schedule: Schedule fluctuates based on workloads during weekdays with afterhours / weekend work as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely pack, load, transport, unload, and install fine art, sculptures, and other valuable objects.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport artwork between warehouses, galleries, museums, private residences, corporate offices, and other client locations.
  • Prepare artwork for transport using archival packing materials and industry-standard handling techniques.
  • Assist with artwork installations, deinstallations, and object placement according to project and client requirements.
  • Safely operate equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, lifts, and hand tools to move and install artwork.
  • Complete bills of lading, delivery paperwork, and other required project documentation accurately.
  • Inspect artwork before, during, and after transport, reporting any condition concerns while following security and preservation standards.
  • Organize, label, track, and maintain artwork inventory within warehouse and storage facilities.
  • Work closely with transportation, warehouse, logistics, and project teams to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Follow company art handling procedures, safety practices, and security protocols while assisting with general warehouse and operational duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of fine art packing, installation, transportation techniques, and archival-quality packing materials.
  • Experience with artwork installation methods, hanging systems, and safe object handling practices.
  • Understanding of a variety of art materials, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, mixed media, and other delicate objects.
  • Knowledge of art handling risks and best practices to prevent damage during packing, transportation, and installation.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively as part of a team, and maintain discretion when handling high-value artwork in private, museum, and gallery settings.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and lifting or moving heavy or awkwardly shaped objects (50+ lbs.).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to successfully pass background checks and other required security screenings.
  • Experience operating box trucks or commercial delivery vehicles is preferred.
