POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant serves as the liaison between the branch(s) and the Association office with regard to accounts payable, accounts receivable and the administration of the membership database i.e. Daxko.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process invoices for payment. Audit check requests and purchase orders for completeness and makes corrections as necessary.
- Input vendor and expense distribution data in the accounts payable system.
- Coordinate accounts payable check runs. File appropriate documentation and maintain accounts payable files.
- Void checks and credit appropriate accounts as needed.
- Serve as the Daxko Administrator. Including but not limited to; onboarding new users, communicating system changes and troubleshooting system issues.
- Assist branch staff and serve as the point person for Daxko questions.
- Work with vendors and staff to resolve invoice discrepancies. Reviews vendor statements for past due invoices and work with vendors and branches to keep accounts current.
- Reconcile daily cash and make cash deposits.
- Manage accounts receivable for all branches including bad debt write-off and chargebacks.
- Manage cash batch control of all electronic fund transfers (EFT). Process returned checks and drafts in the accounting system.
- Support the Controller, as needed, during the month close process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Experience with accounting systems/ERP platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Experience in nonprofit or multi-entity environments
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes
