.NET / Azure Engineer in India at Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a .NET / Azure Engineer based in India.

This is a full-time contract opportunity for an experienced backend engineer with strong expertise in C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure. You will design and build scalable, reliable backend services supporting modern cloud-based applications. The role combines hands-on software engineering with cloud architecture, distributed systems, data engineering, and security. You will work with Azure PaaS services, relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures, and modern API design practices. Your work will contribute to building maintainable, resilient systems designed for performance and long-term scalability. This is a fully remote role offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in India while collaborating in a structured Monday-to-Friday engineering environment.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and maintainable backend services using C#/.NET or comparable backend technologies.
• Apply strong object-oriented and/or functional programming principles to create clean, reliable, and maintainable software.
• Design and implement robust APIs using REST and OpenAPI, including appropriate versioning and backward-compatibility strategies.
• Build resilient backend systems with effective approaches to error handling, retries, idempotency, fault tolerance, and service reliability.
• Architect and develop solutions using Microsoft Azure PaaS services, including Azure App Service, Container Apps, AKS, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and Azure Storage.
• Implement event-driven and durable processing patterns using Azure Functions and distributed messaging services.
• Design and optimize data solutions using relational databases such as SQL Server and Azure SQL, including query optimization, indexing, and transaction management.
• Develop and support NoSQL solutions using Azure Cosmos DB, including effective partitioning strategies and appropriate consistency models.
• Apply data access abstraction patterns and ORM technologies to create efficient and maintainable data layers.
• Ensure data integrity and support database migrations, schema evolution, and changes across application environments.
• Design secure APIs and backend services using modern authentication and authorization standards, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Implement and manage secure Azure identity patterns using managed identities and Microsoft Entra ID integrations.
• Contribute to cloud architecture decisions, engineering standards, and best practices for security, performance, resilience, and scalability.

• Strong professional experience developing backend applications, with advanced proficiency in C#/.NET or a comparable backend technology.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented and/or functional design principles and their practical application in production systems.
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, maintainable backend services.
• Strong expertise in REST API design, OpenAPI specifications, API versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Solid understanding of distributed-system resilience patterns, including error handling, retries, idempotency, and fault tolerance.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure PaaS services, particularly App Service, Container Apps, AKS, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and Azure Storage.
• Strong relational database experience with SQL Server, Azure SQL, or similar technologies, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and transaction management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB or another NoSQL platform, including partition strategy and consistency model design.
• Experience with ORMs, data access abstraction patterns, data migration, schema evolution, and data integrity.
• Strong understanding of secure API and service design.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, managed identities, and Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD integration patterns.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design reliable solutions for complex technical requirements.

• Full-time contract position with a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
• Initial 6+ month contract, with the possibility of extension.
• 100% remote work from anywhere in India.
• Standard schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
