Job Description
SUMMARY: The Call Center/Prior Authorization Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Outpatient Pharmacist to coordinate timely approval prescriptions and assists pharmacist in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining drug inventories and maintenance of records.
BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in HealthStream Policy Manager.
Required to work with the Director of Pharmacy regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Pharmacy Department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting required, preferably in a specialty or retail pharmacy with prior authorization or reimbursement experience.
Certification: Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or RN/LPN required.
License: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arkansas required.
Other: Excellent interpersonal communication skills required to interact with patients, coworkers, providers, and third party representatives. Strong understanding of commercial and government insurance plans including Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and prior authorization processes. Ability to navigate and utilize payer portals and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Ability to solve problems, prioritize work in a high volume environment, and adapt to changes to workload and schedule to meet patient needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to write legibly, speak and read English proficiently. Must be able to operate computer, calculator, telephone, pager, and other related pharmacy equipment. Proficient in computer use including Microsoft Office, data entry systems, and healthcare platforms. Critical thinker who can anticipate member/customer needs and take initiative, ask the right questions and deliver the highest quality customer experience.

Work Environment
Hospital environment to include office and/or Retail/Specialty Pharmacy environment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time position; typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM
May require occasional weekend or evening shifts depending on patient or workflow needs
