This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP Engineering based in the United States.
The VP Engineering will provide executive leadership for a global product engineering organization responsible for building scalable, customer-focused software products.
You will define and execute engineering strategy in close partnership with Product Management, Design, and Go-to-Market leadership.
The role combines strategic direction with hands-on engagement in architecture, technical decisions, delivery, and complex problem-solving.
A major focus will be advancing AI-enabled coding and development lifecycle practices while accelerating cloud and SaaS product delivery.
You will shape engineering culture, develop senior leaders, attract exceptional talent, and establish best-in-class engineering practices.
Success will be measured through product quality, speed to market, customer outcomes, and alignment between technology and business strategy.

- Serve as the executive leader for a global product engineering organization, setting strategic direction, operating standards, and priorities across distributed teams.
- Partner closely with Product Management to translate product vision and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and high-quality software delivery.
- Lead engineering teams and leaders across multiple locations, fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and a strong customer-focused culture.
- Drive the adoption of AI-enabled coding and development lifecycle practices across software development, deployment, testing, and quality processes.
- Lead the development and delivery of SaaS and cloud-based products, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and strong customer experiences.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across product systems, contributing to major design decisions and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Align engineering investments, budgets, resources, and delivery plans with broader business objectives and product strategy.
- Serve as a technical advisor to executive leadership and contribute to annual planning, product strategy, and long-term technology direction.
- Engage directly with customers and support sales and go-to-market initiatives by providing technical perspective and helping communicate product capabilities and value.
- Collaborate across Product, Design, Go-to-Market, and other functions to ensure engineering execution remains aligned with customer and commercial priorities.
- Build, coach, retain, and develop high-performing engineering teams and leaders while strengthening organizational capabilities and engineering culture.
- Establish and promote best practices that improve engineering effectiveness, product quality, delivery speed, and internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Take ownership of special initiatives and strategic projects as business needs evolve.
- 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, with a strong focus on software product development and delivery.
- 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, including management of engineering organizations and senior leaders or leaders of leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building and delivering customer-facing software products, preferably within SaaS or cloud-based environments.
- Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices and the full product development lifecycle, from strategy and architecture through deployment and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience developing scalable, reliable, and high-quality software products in fast-paced, product-driven organizations.
- Strong experience working with cloud-based application development environments and modern technology architectures.
- Experience partnering closely with Product Management to shape product strategy, prioritize investments, and execute against business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to connect engineering strategy and delivery with measurable business objectives and customer outcomes.
- Strong executive presence, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with sufficient technical depth and hands-on involvement when complex situations require it.
- Experience leading distributed or geographically diverse engineering organizations.
- Strong people leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, succession planning, organizational development, and talent retention.
- Comfort operating in environments characterized by rapid change, ambiguity, innovation, and evolving product priorities.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and emerging approaches to improving engineering productivity and quality is highly relevant.
- Base compensation: $215,000–$300,000 per year, with specific offers based on experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business considerations.
