Job Description
Applisights helps businesses use technology, data, and AI to improve how they operate, serve customers, and grow. We are building practical solutions that turn complex business challenges into measurable outcomes.
Our Solutions Architecture team works with strategic customers and internal stakeholders to design, validate, and deliver technical solutions. The team also creates tools, workflows, and reusable assets that turn individual expertise into organization-wide capability.
The RoleWe are looking for an AI Engineer who enjoys working close to the business and the people using the solutions they build. You will be embedded within the Solutions Architecture organization, where you will identify high-impact opportunities, build production-quality tools, support strategic customer engagements, and automate time-consuming workflows.
Your success will be measured by the impact of your work: engagements accelerated, workflows improved, time saved, and tools adopted across the organization.
You will ship code frequently, work directly with Solutions Architects to understand where they lose time, and turn recurring problems into scalable solutions. You will also build custom demonstrations, proof-of-concept applications, and technical assets for important customer engagements.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to work at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, customer needs, and business impact.
What You’ll DoCollaborate with Solutions Architects, business leaders, Product, and Engineering to translate ambiguous business needs into well-defined technical deliverables.
Evaluate and integrate AI capabilities—including large language models, agents, retrieval systems, and workflow automation—where they create measurable value.
Design and build internal tools, AI agents, and automated workflows that improve technical discovery, solution design, demonstrations, customer engagements, pipeline management, and product feedback.
Turn promising prototypes and tools created by Solutions Architects into secure, scalable, maintainable, production-grade solutions.
Identify recurring friction across workflows and proactively develop reusable solutions.
Build custom demonstration environments, proof-of-concept applications, integrations, and technical assets for strategic customer engagements.
Establish appropriate evaluation, monitoring, security, and human-oversight mechanisms for AI-powered systems.
Document tools, architectures, operating procedures, and usage patterns so others can adopt and extend your work.
Debug, improve, and maintain backend systems across multiple codebases and infrastructure environments.
Measure the adoption and business impact of delivered solutions and iterate based on user feedback.
Four or more years of professional software engineering experience, including responsibility for production systems.
Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including the ability to debug failures, trace issues across services, and reason about data flows.
Experience building and deploying AI agents, LLM-powered applications, retrieval systems, or workflow automation beyond basic prompt engineering.
Experience taking loosely defined problems from discovery through design, implementation, deployment, and iteration.
Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, Node.js, Ruby, or Next.js.
Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or a comparable cloud environment, including deployment, monitoring, and basic DevOps practices.
Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, integrations, or workflow automation.
Ability to work effectively across multiple codebases and technology stacks.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development, combined with the engineering judgment to reason through and debug problems independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfort working with ambiguity, limited oversight, and changing priorities.
Experience designing platforms, templates, low-code systems, or other tools that non-engineers can extend.
Experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, GTM Engineering, or a product engineering role that worked closely with customers or commercial teams.
Experience integrating third-party platforms such as Salesforce, Gong, HubSpot, Slack, or similar business systems.
A record of building tools or systems adopted beyond your immediate team.
Experience with AI evaluation, observability, data privacy, access controls, and responsible deployment practices.
Background in consulting, professional services, or another role combining technical depth with business context.
You want to be close to the business. You are energized by seeing your work help a team win an engagement, improve a customer outcome, or eliminate operational friction.
You are a pragmatic builder. You ship useful solutions quickly, learn from real usage, and improve them iteratively.
You are an engineer first. You can design systems, write maintainable code, debug production issues, and make sound technical trade-offs. AI supports your judgment rather than replacing it.
You recognize patterns. When a solution works for one person or team, you look for ways to turn it into a reusable capability.
You take ownership. You can identify valuable problems, define scope, manage trade-offs, and deliver results without waiting for a complete specification.
You communicate clearly. You develop a deep understanding of users’ workflows and explain your recommendations effectively to technical and business audiences.
