Full-Time Lead Medical Assistant – Family Planning Clinic
Our busy family planning clinic is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and pro-choice Lead Medical Assistant to join our dedicated healthcare team. This is a full-time leadership position (approximately 40 hours per week) for an individual who is passionate about providing high-quality reproductive healthcare and ensuring exceptional patient care in a respectful, supportive, and fast-paced environment.
As the Lead Medical Assistant, you will serve as a clinical leader while working alongside providers and staff in both clinical and administrative roles. You will help oversee the daily workflow of the medical assistant team, provide hands-on patient care, assist with procedures, and ensure efficient clinic operations.

As the Lead Medical Assistant, you will serve as a clinical leader while working alongside providers and staff in both clinical and administrative roles. You will help oversee the daily workflow of the medical assistant team, provide hands-on patient care, assist with procedures, and ensure efficient clinic operations.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Perform pre-operative screening, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and documenting information accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Provide informed consent counseling and patient education.
- Perform laboratory testing and specimen collection; phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- Assist physicians during abortion procedures while providing compassionate support and reassurance to patients.
- Monitor workflow to ensure efficient patient flow and excellent patient care.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and clinic protocols.
- Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and exam room readiness.
- Perform other clinical duties within scope of practice including inventory management
- Answer phones and assist patients with scheduling appointments.
- Register patients, verify information, collect payments, and maintain accurate records.
- Rotate between clinical and front desk responsibilities as needed to support clinic operations.
- Work collaboratively with providers and administrative staff to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Full-time (approximately 40 hours per week)
- Weekdays with flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
- Saturday shift required (approximately 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (hours may vary based on patient volume)
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical experience required
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience in women's health, reproductive health, OB/GYN, family planning, or primary care is highly desirable.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Phlebotomy skills preferred; training available for the right candidate.
- Bilingual is a plus - preferably Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and age groups.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
