Job Description

Summary:

The Assistant Quality Manager (AQM) will be responsible for aiding-helping the (QM) defining and developing strategies and plans to ensure compliance with established Codes, Standards, Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Contractual Requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System are fully implemented.
  • Ensure that the Quality Management System is promptly amended when improved practices are identified.
  • Audit of both internal and external Quality Systems.
  • Communicate with Client’s inspection personnel in performing the role of SHAW GROUP Quality Management Representative.
  • Conduct product verification (inspect, test and witness tests) to ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and nominated standards.
  • Control the quality of work performed by SHAW GROUP and its subcontractors.
  • Identify any non-conforming product and advise by means of Non-Conformance Report.
  • Sign off relevant reports or checklists as required by ITP’s.
  • Ensure welding is carried out by qualified welders in accordance with approved welding procedures.
  • Ensure welding consumables are received and stored in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Coordinate, review and issue ITPs for all work related to the project including identification of ITP hold points.
  • Understand contract requirements.
  • Understand subcontractor(s) contract requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain the Project Quality Plan.
  • Ensure Project Specific Quality Control Procedures are developed and implemented.
  • Ensure Project Specific Inspection and Test Plans are developed and implemented.
  • Ensure sufficient QA/QC resources are available to support all Project Processes
  • Ensure Quality Training is performed, completed, and documented.
  • Coordinate with Welding Engineering for identification and development of WPS’s and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR’s).
  • Ensure Welder/Welding Operator Performance Qualifications (WPQ’s) are maintained.
  • Ensure Weld Rod/Filler Material controls are established and maintained.
  • Maintain welder qualification summary detailing limits of qualifications.
  • Review welder performances and investigate unsatisfactory performances.
  • Ensure Project NDE is coordinated and NDE Tracking System is established and maintained.
  • Ensure staff abides by HSE requirements applicable to their work scope.
  • Ensure completeness of Quality Documentation.
  • Identify and process non-conformances, including obtaining Client approval of proposed resolutions, ensuring implementation and monitoring effectiveness of agreed resolutions.
  • Coordinate site QC reporting and distribution of reports to relevant personnel.
  • Act as the focal point for quality issues and resolution.
  • Advise Project Team on all QA/QC issues.
  • Monitor, manage, and coordinate Procedure Program Implementation – including New Procedure Generation, revisions and compliance.
  • Review key project deliverables to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
  • Participate in subcontracting and procurement cycles to ensure specified quality requirements are met.
  • Review applicable subcontractors/suppliers’ quality documentation.
  • Ensure project quality documentation and records are developed and maintained.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure conformance with Applicable Codes, Standards, Policies, Procedures, Drawings and Specific Contract Requirements.
  • Monitor programmatic compliance to quality objectives, applicable codes, standards, policies, procedures, and specific contract requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) with additional specialized training or college course work and 5 – 10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to exert 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on the shop floor/facility and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to use multi-level stairs and rung ladders unassisted.
