What You’ll Do

As a Radiologic Tech, you will report to Manager/Director Radiology. Performs Radiology procedures and examinations according to physician's orders, department policies, and procedures. Assumes responsibility for schedule management and patient flow. Explains the steps of the imaging procedure to the patient.

Multi-Modality Radiology Tech Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform radiology procedures and examinations in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and established protocols.
  • Produce and evaluate high-quality diagnostic images through appropriate positioning, technical factor selection, protocol adherence, and image optimization.
  • Obtain patient histories, recognize pathology, and adjust imaging techniques to ensure patient safety and accurate diagnosis.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and clean imaging equipment, including power injection systems and related technology.
  • Manage imaging records by verifying orders, documenting procedures, entering charges, maintaining RIS and PACS records, scanning required documents, and performing image post-processing.
  • Coordinate patient flow and scheduling while providing clear patient education and compassionate care throughout the imaging process.
  • Administer contrast procedures, including IV starts, allergy screening, monitoring for adverse reactions, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain radiation and magnetic field safety standards, including ALARA principles and proper dosimetry monitoring.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new staff and students, and participate in on-call coverage as required.
  • Ensure examination rooms remain stocked, organized, and operational to support efficient department workflow.
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, continuing education, licensure and certification standards, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Attend department meetings, maintain required certifications (including BCLS/CPR as applicable), and support departmental goals through additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime or alternate schedules when needed to support patient care and operational needs.

What You Bring

As a Multi-Modality Radiology Tech, you must possess excellent imaging skills, including patient positioning, technique application, image critique, and adherence to departmental protocols. They should have strong computer proficiency with all systems used within the two imaging modalities they support, as well as familiarity with the associated imaging equipment. An extensive understanding of the operations and workflow of a radiology department is required, along with comprehensive knowledge of radiation protection practices and the ability to effectively safeguard patients, colleagues, and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure. Additionally, individuals must successfully obtain and maintain ARRT certification and advanced certification in both assigned modalities within six months of becoming eligible in order to retain this position.

Required Qualifications

  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an Associate's Degree or Professional Training.
  • Licensure and/or advanced certification in 2 imaging modalities required.
  • ARRT or ARRT eligible, State license and CPR certified required.
  • A minimum of one to two years of job-related experience is required. (1) The associate must be registered in the two modalities in which they are working. (2) There must be a need for employment in the two modalities. (3) The employee must work regularly scheduled hours in the two modalities.
