POSITION SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:
The IDD Crisis InterventionSpecialist supports individuals with intellectual and developmentaldisabilities (IDD) with significant behavioral and psychiatric challenges. This position provides therapeutic supportusing a flexible array of services to identity the stressors that result in challengingbehaviors. The Crisis InterventionSpecialist directs crisis response services including identifying individualswith IDD in the service area who are at risk of requiring crisis services. This position educates individuals, families,and the community on IDD and mental illness.
This position works independently,under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodicmeetings.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, OTHERQUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Master's degree from accredited college oruniversity in social work, behavioral or related field.
Experience Required: At least 1 year experience with individualswith IDD. At least 1 year experience with behavior intervention and psychiatricchallenges.
Registration, Certification,Licensure or other Qualifications Required:
- Must maintain a valid TexasDriver's license, auto liability insurance and a driving record acceptable toPermiaCare's insurance requirements.
- Required to pass criminal historyand background checks as well as pre-employment drug screen.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond and assess individual withIDD for danger to self or others, psychosis, or mental health deterioration.
- Develop treatment and supportplans and provide linkages to community resources for individuals with IDD incrisis.
- Monitor TLETS for jail matches andassess detainees at the county jail to provide support and alternatives toincarceration.
- Develop trainings and educatefamilies and communities, including MCOT staff and law enforcement about themanner in which to engage persons with IDD and their unique needs.
- Collaborate with LIDDA staff andTransition Support Team members to identify persons with IDD who are at risk ofrequiring crisis services, such as persons who exhibit repeated and severebehavior disturbances that jeopardize the person's safety or current living arrangement.
- Direct the referral process,training and oversight of crisis respite services for persons with IDDrequiring behavioral and psychiatric support.
- Invoice transition support teamfor monthly services.
- Prepare reports to supportperformance contract measures.
- Meet unit performance measures ortargets.
- Maintain assigned caseload.
- Coordinate appropriate services todesignated caseload.
- Enter accurate and appropriatedocumentation of services within timeframe required.
- Maintain confidentiality ofsensitive records and treatment information, client files and protected healthinformation in compliance with HIPAA, laws, rules and regulations, andestablished procedures.
- Maintain regular and reliablephysical on-site attendance. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptnessare required for the scheduled work day 100% of the time, to ensure consistencyand completeness of program's processes.
- Comply with the Abuse, Neglect,and Exploitation policy and reporting requirements.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct andStandards of Behavior policy requirements.
- Establish and maintain effectivework relationships with individuals served and their families, supervisors,co-workers and visitors by demonstrating cooperative, courteous and respectfulbehavior at all times.
- Communicate regularly withsupervisor.
- Open and process mail/email in atimely manner.
- Answer phone, collect phonemessages and respond to requests timely and accurately.
- Maintain safe and clean workingenvironment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Perform all work functions andinteractions using a trauma informed approach.
- Display professionalism whenrepresenting PermiaCare and the program in the community.
- Maintain compliance with legalrequirements and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain valid and currentdriver's license, auto insurance, acceptable driving record and reliabletransportation at all times. Driving may be required for this position.
- Complete all training as assignedprior to due date.
- Other duties as assigned.
