The Role: Winter Services Skid Steer Operator
We provide the tools, technology, and support; you bring the skill and dedication. In this role, you will play a key part in operating a skid steer to efficiently clear snow and ice from commercial, industrial, and residential properties during the winter season.
Your Daily Impact:
Operate Specialized Snow Equipment: Operate skid steers equipped with snow blades, pushers, buckets, or sweepers efficiently to remove snow and ice from commercial, industrial, and residential properties.
Site Clearing & Precision Relocation: Safely and efficiently clear parking lots, roadways, drive lanes, and access points according to site maps and commercial quality standards while performing precision snow stacking and piling to maximize available parking space.
Asset Care & Inspections: Conduct routine daily pre- and post-trip inspections, perform basic maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, cleaning, minor troubleshooting), and ensure machines and attachments are properly secured and in working order.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management: Identify on-site hazards (curbs, light standards, pavement, parked vehicles) to prevent property damage, adhere strictly to Safe Work Practices (SWP) and Safe Job Procedures (SJP), and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without exception.
Mobile Tech & Site Logging: Utilize mobile applications (e.g., Aspire, Asset Tiger, SiteDocs) for accurate daily timekeeping, site arrival/completion verification, maintenance logging, and safety reporting.
Teamwork & Operations: Maintain clear communication and strong teamwork with field supervisors and peers, and readily assist alongside sidewalk crews when required.
Essentials for Success (Qualifications & Skills)
To thrive in this role, you will need a solid technical foundation and a strong work ethic:
Knowledge: 2+ years operating skid steers in commercial snow removal, SWP/SJP safety principles, equipment maintenance, and hazard awareness.
Skills: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract, proficiency operating skid steer attachments (pushers, blades, buckets, brooms), and mobile app site logging.
Abilities: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in extreme winter conditions, maintain flexible availability for on-call shifts including early mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays during snow events, and adhere strictly to PPE and safety protocols.
