Requisition Number:R160452 Assistant Vice President, Support Services (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

The AVP, Support Services leads operations for area(s) of responsibility, including oversight of effective support services delivery, strategic planning and execution, and resource management. Participates as an active member of the clinic executive team; collaborates with peers to ensure optimal service delivery across the organization.

  • Builds/maintains an effective fiscal management structure to have a positive impact on the organizations long-term economic value, including analyzing resource utilization and development of short and long-term budgets and efficiency planning.

  • Molds processes systematically to ensure success. Oversees and drives development and monitoring of department goals, performance improvement activities, benchmark strategies and operational excellence standards. Implements an effective and ongoing program to evaluate and measure success of departmental activities against scorecard initiatives and system goals and objectives.

  • Ensure effective Stakeholder relationships. Establishes, maintains and evaluates vendor business and community relationships. Oversees partnerships, negotiates vendor contracts, donations and agreements. Maintains professional affiliation. Participates in community ventures and activities.

  • Ensures ongoing development of subordinate leaders, staff and self through education related to alignment with delivering quality patient care, service and goals/objectives.

  • Focuses on benchmarks and demonstrated best practices when designing organizational development plans and department processes; sets expectations for leaders to use benchmarks when making decisions.

  • Supports organization and department research initiatives.

  • Demonstrates effective leadership and high-quality outcomes using a vision and goals that support the mission, values and goals of Carilion Clinic.

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of organization goals, priorities and needs and clearly articulates a department vision and objectives that support broader priorities and scorecard goals.

  • Ensures continued development of subordinate leaders through performance management, employee engagement and a culture of respect and teamwork. Consistently demonstrates proficiency in decision making, change leadership, conflict management, communication, managing vision, building relationships and influencing others.

What We Require:

Education: Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field required.

Experience: Seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience required, preferably in healthcare operations or support services management.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Licensed or certified as appropriate to the position in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated operational leadership, analytical ability, project management, and organizational skills. Strong communication, facilitation, relationship management, and problem-solving abilities required. Ability to lead teams, manage change, and support organizational initiatives across multiple departments. Proficient computer skills required.
