Job Description
The Porter is responsible for maintaining the appearance, organization, and readiness of all dealership inventory. This position plays a critical role in creating a positive first impression for customers by ensuring vehicles are clean, properly displayed, fueled, and ready for demonstration or delivery. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:Job Responsibilities
Vehicle Cleanliness
- Wash, clean, and detail new and used vehicles on a regular basis.
- Maintain clean vehicle interiors and exteriors free of dirt, dust, debris, and water spots.
- Ensure showroom, front-line, and inventory vehicles meet dealership appearance standards.
- Remove stickers, trash, and other materials from vehicles as needed.
Lot Organization and Parking
- Arrange inventory in an organized and visually appealing manner.
- Park vehicles with adequate spacing to allow customers to comfortably walk between and inspect inventory.
- Move vehicles as directed to support sales, service, deliveries, photography, or special events.
- Keep parking areas neat, orderly, and free of hazards.
Fueling and Vehicle Readiness
- Maintain adequate fuel levels in all inventory vehicles.
- Regularly inspect vehicle batteries and charge or replace batteries as necessary to ensure vehicles are ready for customer demonstrations.
- Conduct routine visual inspections for low tire pressure, warning lights, or obvious damage and report concerns promptly.
Verify vehicles are locked, secured, and ready for daily business
General Responsibilities
- Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming vehicle shipments.
- Support the sales and service departments with vehicle transportation and customer deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness of the dealership lot, wash bay, and surrounding grounds.
- Follow all dealership safety policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles with both automatic and manual transmissions preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
