About This Position
Assists the Controller in managing the college’s external audit process to include gathering of requested documents, coordinating on-site field work by the audit firm, preparing audit schedules, and coordinating the resolutions to questions, issues, and observations made by auditors during the entire audit process.
Responsible for reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including reconciliations of all college bank accounts, local property tax, and budget transfers.
Ensures reconciliation of investments, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll-related liability balance sheet accounts, fixed assets, and grants.
Maintains capital projects-job cost subsidiary ledger, construction in progress, and determines final building cost for recording in the Fixed Assets system.
Ensures all cash receipt uploads are entered in the general ledger timely.
Assists the Controller in preparing year-end journal entries to record adjustments for deferred revenue, allowances for uncollectible accounts, general long-term debt (GLTD), prepaids, and all other appropriate and required adjustments as needed.
Provides financial analysis and recommendations to the Vice President of Finance and Business Operations to support decision-making.
Oversee grant and restricted fund accounting to ensure proper tracking and reporting of expenditures.
Cross-trains accounting staff, as assigned.
Ensures the general ledger is in compliance with college policies, state and federal guidelines, and generally accepted accounting principles.
Other DutiesAssists with the development and review of internal controls.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting and three to five years of job-related experience in financial government.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Accounting or related Business Administration.
Occasional travel for training and conferences.
