The American University in Cairo is seeking a visionary and impact-driven academic leader to serve as our Assistant Provost for Innovative Learning Experiences.
Overview:
This senior academic leadership role is responsible for leading strategic academic innovation efforts to future-proof AUC's curriculum and learning ecosystem. The role centers on reimagining academic programs through the integration of competency-based learning, transdisciplinary design, and experiential learning models that align with global workforce trends and civic imperatives.
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
1) Curriculum Innovation:
Spearhead the transformation of undergraduate and graduate curricula to embed future-facing design principles, foster interdisciplinary learning, and promote real-world application of knowledge.
2) Competency-Based Learning:
Institutionalize a comprehensive competency framework that maps academic and co-curricular learning to essential 21st-century skills, supporting both curriculum redesign and student success initiatives.
3) Future Learning Design:
Lead the design and piloting of forward-looking academic experiences, including AI-powered curriculum diagnostics, future readiness assessments, and learning pathways aligned with emerging career fields and societal needs.
4) Educational Technology and Digital Innovation:
In collaboration with the Center of Learning and Teaching (CLT), develop and scale educational technologies that support personalized learning, AI-enabled curriculum diagnostics, and future competency development, ensuring digital tools are integrated into the core of academic transformation efforts.
5) Strategic Academic Initiatives:
In collaboration with the Academy of Liberal Arts (ALA), drive cross-departmental collaborations to build institutional capacity in experiential learning, curriculum innovation, and the future of liberal arts.
6) Thought Leadership and Capacity Building:
In collaboration with the Center of Learning and Teaching (CLT), deliver institutional workshops, thought pieces, and consultation services to support academic stakeholders in adopting pedagogical innovations and future-oriented design practices.
Additional Information:
Ideal Candidate:
- A forward-thinking academic leader with experience in curriculum design, educational innovation, or academic development.
- Demonstrated expertise in competency-based education, interdisciplinary program design, or emerging pedagogies.
- Proven ability to lead institutional initiatives, engage diverse stakeholders, and translate vision into sustainable systems.
- Strong background in higher education, preferably in contexts of innovation, reform, or global learning.
- A track record of integrating technology to enhance learning design, including experience with designing edtech tools, digital learning platforms, or AI-supported educational solutions.
