Job Description
Position Summary
The HROT Sobering Center & Outreach Support position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of clients, staff, and facilities during 3rd shift weekend operations. This role combines on-site security support for the Sobering Center with field support for the outreach team when responding to law enforcement calls for client pick-ups. The position requires strong judgment, de-escalation skills, and the ability to provide compassionate support while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Comply with HRC Work Culture Building Blocks and follow HRC Code of Conduct.
• Keep Client Care a top priority during client stay in the facility to include providing compassion, empathy and respect.
• Must be in self-directed recovery and willing to share experience as appropriate, if applicable to position.
• Effectively support client engagement and progress in recovery.
• Stay in compliance with documentation standards and ethical guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing training and supervision.
• Provide on-site safety and security monitoring at the Sobering Center during assigned 3rd shift hours.
• Respond to law enforcement calls by accompanying the outreach team for client pick-ups, ensuring safe and respectful transport.
• Assist with client check-in, monitoring, and support as needed during intake and stay.
• Maintain accurate incident and activity reports in accordance with program and agency standards.
• Support the Sobering Center team in de-escalating crisis situations and ensuring a safe environment for all clients and staff.
• Conduct safety checks of the facility and grounds, reporting concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.
• Collaborate with outreach staff, law enforcement, and internal teams to ensure coordinated and effective client care.
• Participate in regular training, supervision, and debriefings to strengthen skills and align with program expectations.
• Must be able to remain calm, professional, and respectful in high-stress or crisis situation.
• Flexibility to work weekends, 3rd shift hours and adjust to emergent needs
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be two years in personal recovery
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required
• Must be able to pass Background check
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• 46 Hours of Recovery Support Specialist Training
• Certified as Recovery Support Peer Specialist
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer or engaging in client documentation
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday, including during community outreach or group facilitation
• Occasional reaching, bending, stopping or lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Work may occur in office, clinical, or community settings
Work Environment:
• Office environment with standard lighting and temperature
• Community environments including client homes, shelters, or partner agencies
• May involve exposure to individuals experiencing crisis or behavioral health challenges
• Regular interaction with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external providers
