Truck Driver (CDL A) at Honsador Lumber – Kahului, Hawaii

POSITION OVERVIEW

Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Drives truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
• Delivers and off-loads material.
• Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
• Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Cleans inside of truck.
• Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
• Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have Hawaii CDL Class A Driver’s License
• Detail Oriented
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Applicant must provide a driving abstract and previous CDL A driving experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE — High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS — Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED — Meets all federal and state driver's license regulations. Must have a Commercial Driver License (CDL A).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS — While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit and frequently required to walk and talk or hear.
