The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Prepares and dispenses medication orders per provider order according to established policies, procedures and protocols
Identifies, resolves and prevents drug related problems
Interprets medication orders and transcribes them into the EMR accurately if necessary
Maintains accurate and complete patient medication profiles
Completes accurate calculations for pediatric drug therapy for compounding, dispensing and drug therapy monitoring
Interacts with patients, family, and other health care providers as appropriate to assure continuity of services and to achieve desired patient outcomes through safe, timely, cost effective drug therapy
Identifies and selects specific dosage forms as appropriate for the pediatric population
Assures compliance with organizational policy regarding medication management
Assures integrity of medication including visual review, adequate storage and expiration management
Participates in the prevention of drug diversion per department and facility policy and procedure
Ensures universal pharmaceutical waste and hazardous pharmaceutical waste policies and procedures are appropriately completed
Successfully utilizes automated dispensing system
Performs assigned nursing station inspections every other month as assigned
Demonstrates effective direction, supervision and evaluation of technical staff
Consistently collaborates with medical and hospital staff to provide an environment which assures the safety and well being of pediatric patients
Accurately reports all patient care or medication errors, adverse events and near misses as soon as possible and documents appropriately
Consistently uses error prevention processes, especially those identified with high risk procedures or medication delivery systems
Consistently demonstrates knowledge of the chain of command policy and applies in appropriate situations
Consistently adheres to all patient safety and medication management policies and procedures
Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates the patients discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other members of the health care team as necessary
Completes mandatory online educational sessions in a timely manner
Demonstrates awareness and respect to the patient, family and or significant other as an individual and family unit ie identifies cultural and religious needs language barriers physical and psychological limitations etc
