Job Description
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We’re looking for a Tunnel Superintendent to lead day-to-day tunneling operations on a hard rock Main Beam TBM project. This role requires deep field experience and the ability to drive production while maintaining safety, equipment uptime, and crew coordination across all shifts. You’ll be accountable for keeping the machine advancing, troubleshooting operational issues, and executing shift plans to meet project targets.

You’ll be accountable for keeping the machine advancing, troubleshooting operational issues, and executing shift plans to meet project targets.
Responsibilities:
- Lead tunneling crews in daily excavation activities, including mucking, ground support, utilities, and backup operations
- Coordinate with TBM operators, mechanics, electricians, miners, and EHS to ensure safe and efficient progress
- Own the daily production schedule and ensure key performance metrics (penetration rate, downtime, shift changeovers) are met
- Monitor machine conditions and proactively manage downtime events with the maintenance team
- Enforce safety policies, conduct field audits, and support incident response when necessary
- Track progress, shift logs, and field reports for leadership and project management teams
- Train new crew members and maintain high standards for work quality and performance
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of tunneling or heavy civil construction experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role
- Hands-on knowledge of Main Beam TBM operations strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead field crews, manage production targets, and maintain safety in underground environments
- Solid understanding of excavation support systems, muck handling, ventilation, and tunneling logistics
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and long hours as needed to support 24/7 tunneling operations
