About This Position

JOB SUMMARY:

Mystic Aquarium seeks an experienced and ambitious communication professional to serve as the lead copywriter for various digital and print applications. The Content Manager will play a critical role in delivering the Mystic Aquarium’s mission to the community and the nation.

In this role, you will be the primary writer responsible for crafting compelling, brand-aligned content across a wide range of digital and physical assets. From website pages and email campaigns to brochures, signage, and advertising, your words will help bring Mystic Aquarium’s mission, programs, and experiences to life for audiences near and far. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative storyteller who is passionate about conservation, education, and inspiring connections to the natural world.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the lead copywriter for all digital marketing materials, including website content, landing pages, email campaigns, social media, banner ads, and other online assets.
  • Develop compelling, mission-aligned copy for physical collateral such as signage, brochures, flyers, posters, direct mail, and one-pagers.
  • Collaborate closely with all teams to ensure messaging is consistent across all touchpoints and tailored to specific audiences and platforms.
  • Translate strategic objectives into engaging, actionable messaging that drives audience engagement, mission amplification, and brand awareness.
  • Edit and proofread all marketing content to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar, and adherence to brand voice and tone.
  • Create and maintain a consistent voice and messaging framework across all channels, with attention to accessibility, inclusivity, and audience segmentation.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing initiatives, from concept through execution, providing ideas and messaging that elevate campaign impact.
  • Use data and performance metrics (such as email open rates or ad engagement) to refine copy and optimize future content.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and messaging to keep brand content fresh, relevant, and competitive.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation.

  • 3+ years’ experience in professional content development
  • 3+ years’ project management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment
  • Proficient in a variety of social media platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SEO a plus

Safety/Security

  • Every employee must have a working knowledge of all Facility wide, and Department specific, safety procedures that relate to their position, including, but not limited to: Emergency Evacuation, Lockdown Procedure, and Fire Extinguisher Use.
