Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric/Mental Health) at Giacare Inc – Oceana Naval Air Station, Virginia

In anticipation of a future government contract award, GiaCare Inc. is accepting applications for Civilian Nurse Practitioners - Psychiatric to work at the Branch Health Clinic, in Oceana, Virginia.

Qualifications:

Degree/Education: Master's Degree in Nursing. Have successfully completed thirty (30) hours of education in pharmacology for advance nursing practice.

Certifications: Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or national certification for specialty area of practice, as appropriate. Basic Life Support (BLS).

Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.

Experience: One year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Pracdtitioner. Have the ability and training to prescribe to, and manage patients on psychiatric medications

*Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians. At least one (1) of the letters must be from a supervisor

Duties:

• Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
• Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.

• Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
